Having worked in the print and media business for several years I am now trying to develop a career path which will encompass more creative media and IT attributes. I have spent the last two years learning new skills and want the chance to develop them in a commercial environment.

Pre Press Shift Manager

The company mainly deals with the supply of digital pre press services to the publishing and printing industry; also incorporating design and digital photography.
I am responsible for a team of system operators and the management of workflow through the company to meet the strictest of deadlines. The position calls for liaison with customers and other departments to anticipate problems that might infringe these deadlines. Also our own work requires a lot of forward planning due to the diverse nature of customer requests.
A wide knowledge of new hardware and software is required due to the constant changing of industry 'fashions'.
Proficient in all the major design applications and vastly experienced in colour retouching and manipulation for many high profile clients. Also fully knowledgeable with Brisque workflows, PDF creation and imposition software.
More recently our company has started to build up image databases that allow customers to use the internet to access their relevant high resolution images and build and correct pages in real time on our servers. Although at an early stage I have been involved in the set up and maintenance of this system, "WebNative", including the design of user webpages.

This position was part of a year's student placement in conjunction with my HND course in Printing/Design. Gained experience within a production control capacity aswell as project work.

Interests

I have a keen interest in new technologies and design; most of my time is spent at the moment pursuing professional qualifications that will help develop my career.
I also spend a lot of hours creating and developing websites for personal and commercial users.
When not sat in front of a computer I like to play cricket, go mountain-biking and visit the gym on a regular basis. I also have a love of independent traveling which has taken me too Australia, USA, Japan, Sudan Thailand, Hong Kong, Tanzania and many other places.
